As a Girls on the Run coach, you'll help girls:
Girls on the Run coaches do not have to be runners themselves; the basic requirements are enthusiasm and commitment to the healthy development of young girls and themselves. In fact, we want girls to meet female and male role models of all shapes, sizes, and abilities, just like them!
Over the course of 10-weeks, you'll meet twice a week for 90 minutes with girls in 3rd through 5th grade (Girls on the Run) or girls in 6th through 8th grade (Heart & Sole)*. Our scripted curriculum will guide you through each lesson, and everything you need—supplies, snacks, & handouts—is provided for you in your coaching tote.
*Please note that Heart & Sole is offered only in the spring season.
Coach applications for spring 2017 are now closed. Any applications received will be considered for fall 2017.
Returning coaches should complete the RETURNING COACH application.
Please note that if you do not have a program site in mind, we can help you find one that fits your schedule.
STEP 2: Attend a Coach Training (This is included in your coaching application. Click here to change your training date or sign up for a date that was not included at the time you applied.)
All coaches must attend a GOTR training session with trained GOTR staff member BEFORE coaching a GOTR program.
STEP 3: Complete Online concussion training
According to Ohio State Law, ALL coaches and running buddies must also complete online concussion training. The free training is available here:
If you're interested in coaching but can't commit to our weekly schedule, we need substitute coaches! How it works:
